Much as Trav loves the 300, he doesn’t hold back on what he thinks about their lack of forethought when it comes to protecting the belly of the beast… Leaving the factory fuel filter exposed is asking for trouble as soon as you leave the tarmac behind.
But, of course, Perth Diesel Performance has a workaround in the shape of a fuel filter protection bracket – and, naturally, it comes in a handy DIY kit form.
Watch as Trav preps for the job and runs through each step. After jacking up the rear of the vehicle and removing the spare tyre, it’s a case of:
- Disconnecting the electrical connectors.
- Removing the factory fuel filter.
- Installing the protection bracket.
- Reinstalling the fuel filter.
- Then double checking your handiwork.
Once in place, you can hit the roughest of terrain and be happy that the fuel filter is protected from rocks and other debris – and it’s also been designed for easy access to allow for regular filter checks and replacement.
