Vehicle wraps are all the rage – but they’re not cheap! However, because of the value of the new 300 Landcruiser, Travis decided to swallow the cost to protect the bodywork from the inevitable bumps and scratches any decent off-road adventure brings.
Having wrapped another vehicle in the past and noting how good the process was at protecting the paintwork, he was keen to keep this new 300 in the best condition possible.
So, off he went to the professional wrapping service provider, Madinc. The 300 series was prepped and the film (Expel Stealth) was carefully applied. The whole process is painstaking and requires incredible attention to detail – it takes about five days. This might seem a long time, but it involves:
- Cleaning and paintwork preparation: This is no normal vehicle wash. Every last inch of the paintwork and wheels are cleaned and clay barred to ensure not a speck of dust or dirt remains. Any serious paintwork anomalies are corrected and buffed away.
- Each area is measured and templated: An advanced software programme is used to cut accurate sections to ensure perfect coverage of every inch of the vehicle.
- Each section is carefully applied: This is truly an artform, accurately covering each area to leave a beautifully smooth finish that’s indistinguishable from factory paintwork.
The video details the transformation – something that Trav was very pleased with. The chosen matte finish gave the car a unique, rugged look – plus he’s confident that it’ll provide robust protection from the scratchy environment that every decent off-road experience presents.
