The Long-Awaited 300 Series Refresh: But Have They Done Enough to Consider Upgrading?

So, Trav got an email from Toyota about some of the main upgrades to expect from the newest 300 series. Watch as we run through the latest announcement which, although at first glance might not seem super significant, might just be enough to warrant some excitement (not to mention the decision whether or not to splash out the extra on the new version or benefit from what can often be significant reductions on nearly new or unsold previous versions…)

The new 300 will have:

·      Some significant safety enhancements: All the 2025 models will have Toyota’s advanced driver-assistance system, which includes an emergency driving stop system and steering assist. The higher spec options also get blind-spot monitoring and safe exit assist.

·      Some great performance tweaks: Don’t worry, the 3.3 litre V6 engine isn’t being changed, but – importantly - it’s been honed to improve how it handles off-road conditions, as well as on-road drivability.

·      Improved interior: There’s an upgraded 12.3” touchscreen display in the GX upwards models. The JXL gets 4-zone climate control and a built-in cool box in the centre console.

·      Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (at last!): This could be a deal breaker for many – and it’s being installed on the entire 300 series range.

Trav discusses whether or not these additions would warrant upgrading (spoiler alert, it’s mainly down to what you consider the most important). He also runs through the model choices, discussing the pros and cons of the upgrades in the different options, such as the GX and the JXL.

Naturally, any vehicle change comes with a bunch of other questions, including whether or not shelling out on a new cruiser is worth it, especially if you’ve significantly invested into performance upgrades on the one you already own.

Don’t forget, we’re always on the end of the phone or email if you need a sounding board or advice. And that goes for advice about the 200 series, 70 series, Prado and Hilux too.
